The Potti Sreeramulu Telugu University has inherited the preparation of Encyclopedia in Telugu from Telugu Basha Samithi, a reputed Institution established in 1947, at Madras and later functioned from Hyderabad. The Project on Encyclopedia has been a great success and it has brought out 14 Volumes on a wide range of subjects. In 1986, 15^th October, the Samithi was merged into Telugu University to form a Centre for Encyclopedia and later it was named as Komarraju Venkata Laxmana Rao Vijnana Sarvasva Kendram, A pioneer in the field of Telugu Encyclopedia.

The Centre is exclusively concerned with the preparation and publication of a multi Volume, Subject-wise Encyclopedia in Telugu.  In a way this forms an important aspect of the Telugu to disseminate modern University’s work knowledge as well as the general public also.
