Activities

As the University aims at serving the larger interests of the community in several spheres, it has also embarked upon a number of service oriented activities by according due recognition to the achievers of the State.

This is a major extra-curricular activity of the University as a unified successor of the former five academies mentioned earlier. The duties of the Division are varied and onerous duties to perform in the fields of arts, culture and literature. The following list is illustrative but not exhaustive.

Honouring one great personality every year from the fields of literature, Art and innovators in any area of knowledge with Visishta Puraskara.

Presenting endowment awards to writers, artistes and critics.

Presenting Pratibha Puraskaras to eminent persons in the fields of literature, arts and social service.

Presenting Sahitya Puraskaras to renowned persons in all genres of literature.

Organizing endowment lectures.

Sanctioning old-age pensions to indigent artistes.

Offering financial assistance to writers and scholars for publication of books.

Sanctioning scholarships to students who are pursuing Fine Arts courses at various educational institutions.

Organizing Art exhibitions for young and amateur artists and offering gallery facility to artists.

Serving Non-resident Telugus in other Indian States and abroad by bringing out text-books for them and by extending financial assistance to schools in such areas.

Offering facilities for purchase of library books, equipment and construction of class-rooms.

Offering short-term orientation courses to teachers of Telugu in non-Telugu areas.

Organizing endowment lectures in other States, through the Chairs established in the name of renowned Telugu scholars.

Producing documentaries on the lives of eminent people from all fields of Telugu culture. 54 such documentaries have already been produced. Most of them were telecast by Hyderabad Doordarshan Kendra as part of their educational programming.
