He got the titles Andhra Ratna and Ramadas.  He responded to the Non-Co-Operation call of mahatma Gandhi, got the village Chirala–Perala in Guntur District vacated and constructed Ramanagar in a nearby palm grove.  He established the volunteer corps ‘Rama Dandu’ and achieved unequivocal success for the movement.
