During Satavahana period Gunadhya sat down to
the story mammoth narrated by Kanabhuti, life listened to. He wrote seven
lakh stories in his own blood in colloquial paisachi prakrit. The king is a
lover of classical Sanskrit refused dedication. Gunadhya was desperated. He
kindled fire and offered stories to the fire God. He, his disciples and all
life animate and inanimate shed tears. By the time the King came to know
this, six lakh stories were consumed by fire. The King ran up and saved one
lakh stories. That is the story Brihatkatha left to us. |
