After performing ablutions Potana was in meditation.  Sri Rama appeared and ordained him to write ‘Bhagavata’.  Essentially an agriculturist poet Potana wrote ‘Andhra Maha Bhagavata’ in a mellifluous style.  Bhagavatha is very popular in Andhra Desa. It is not an exaggeration to state that there is no person on telugu land who doesn’t know a single stanza from bhagavata.
